The Club 420

The Club 420 enables young sailors to learn teamwork, trapeze and spinnaker techniques that simply can't be learned in single-handed boats. Safe for beginning sailors and quick enough to keep collegiate All-Americans interested, sailors graduating from the Optimist class will find the C420 to be manageable and a lot of fun.

About the boat

Twenty years ago we developed the Club 420 in response to the growing need for a more durable, high-performance, double-handed racing dinghy that could stand up to the rigors of club and collegiate programs. Ideal for crews ranging in size from 220-300 lbs., the Club 420 is manageable for sailors comingout of the Optimist class and enables young sailors to learn teamwork, trapeze and spinnaker techniques.The Club 420 is simple and safe for beginning sailors and yet challenging enough for collegiate champions.The Club 420 offers more learning opportunities than any other double-handed boat you can find. The Club 420 Class Association promotes events on the local, regional, and national levels in North America. LaserPerformance has sold more than 2000 Club 420’s to junior programs around the nation, and over 200 high schools and colleges maintain fleets as well. The racing and learning will only improve as more clubs standardize to the Club 420 and participation grows at every level. LaserPerformance is dedicated to building the Club 420 and we will work with you to help your school or club build and maintain your fleet.

It's the ideal boat for your local yacht club fleet, international caliber team racing, or family leisure. The V15 is lighter, tougher, easier to transport, and more fun than any other boat in its class.

Fantastic local, regional and national racing is readily available. You may find yourself on the line next to a husband and wife team or the next Olympic hopeful.

 The V15 Class Association sanctions hundreds of events all over the world. From family-oriented "Great Escape" weekends to a regional and national level racing circuit, everyone can participate. Tight one-design class rules have been developed to ensure that the V15 will remain simple and competitive for many years to come.

SPECs

Hull and deck: Shape is tank tested to plane easily in moderate air while effortlessly carrying a wide range

of crew weights. Made of hand-laid, vacuum-bagged, fiberglass sandwich construction for a light and durable structure.

Stern: Wide-aft hull maximizes downwind stability; topside flair provides static stability; revolutionary
shape allows it to plane downwind in 12 knots of wind.

Sails: Standardized one-design North sails made durable with medium tempered 5 oz cloth.

Mast: Non-tapered, one-piece mast with external halyards is virtually indestructible

Rig: Custom-designed heavy-duty rigging including oversized shroud adjusters and pins.

Daggerboard: Efficiently opens-up cockpit and eliminates gaskets.
